St. Andrew Parish, Thenyizumi, has organsied a three-day children’s camp from July 17-19. The concluding eucharistic celebration was officiated by Rev. Fr. Thomas Toretkiu, vocation promoter of the Diocese of Kohima, on the theme “Let the little children come to me” (Lk. 18:19).Fr. Thomas, in his homily, urged parents to be compassionate with their children and to teach them to follow Jesus in their daily walks of life, which according to him is the only key to achieve success in life. He cited example from the life of Jesus, who obeyed his parents (Luke 2:51) during his childhood. He has also reminded the children to be obedient to their parents.
Earlier, Rev. Fr. John Crusto, Parish priest, accorded the words of welcomed to the guests.
Altogether, 140 children from 7 centers viz, Chetheba, K-Basa, Chozuba, Yoruba, Therutusumi, Ruzazho, and Sekrezu participated in the camp.
Rev. Fr. Thomas Toretkiu, Sylvester Metha, Paul Magh, Albert Athisii, Denis Peseyie, Carol Dziivichii and Ruth were the resource personnel. They spoke on topics of ‘7 sacraments’ and ‘Vocation.’
In the Bible quiz and singing competition, Thunyizumi and Yoruba bagged first prizes while Therutusumi and Thunyizumi were declared the runners-up.
Choreography, songs, Bible skit, solo, folk tune were the special items presented during the programme. Gifts were presented to the special guests and resources persons. Zhothiyi Mark, touring Catechist, and Keposwii John, have expressed gratitude to all.
