With the annual vacations having begun as the summer heats up, a children’s school The Little Kingdom Academy has arranged a two-day summer camp for children aged between two and four years at the academy located at Khermahal in Dimapur. The camp began on Wednesday.
The idea behind the camp is to let kids ‘forget their homework’ and bring in opportunities of leisure and fun by introducing them to various activities that can also develop them, said academy’s administrator Dr. Sunepienla Longchar.

The camp will have activities such as hand painting and finger painting; play dough; art and crafts, and games.
The first day of the event had students trying their hand at paints. Dr. Longchar said mixing colours help a child’s intellectual development. Likewise, hand painting and finger painting stimulate a child’s senses, build tactile experience, and ‘strengthen the hands and fingers.’
As for the play dough activity, she said it encourages sensory development, hone motor skills, imagination and thinking skills; mathematical skills and ‘scientific skills’ via the activity of mixing different colours.
Further, arts and craft will encourage coordination, self control, and boost self esteem besides offering a time of bonding and fun for children working together.
The games will cover activities that emphasises on team work, concentration, and responsibility among others, the administrator said. The camp started on Wednesday and will conclude on Thursday, July 6.
