Under the “Reach Out” initiative - a convergence activity of the District Programme Management Unit (DPMU), NRHM with the District AIDS Prevention Control Unit (DAPCU), with the supervision of Dr. Nganshimeren, Chief Medical Officer, Peren, carried out a one day awareness campaign cum sanitation drive at Government Primary School, Bana Colony, Peren town, on June 6.
The campaign began with health talks on personal hygiene by District Media Officer, NRHM, and basics of HIV/AIDS by the Programme Assistant, DAPCU. Thereafter, the team conducted practical activities on personal hygiene with 27 children such as clipping of nails, trimming of hair, proper method of hand washing and free distribution of tooth brush, clothes, undergarments, and sweets.
The team also provided IEC materials, posters on benefits of ZINC, personal hygiene, eye screening and leaflets on importance of iodized salt, benefits of zinc and booklets on Adolescent Reproductive Sexual Health (ARSH) and HIV/AIDS.
