Mokokchung, March 22: The annual Sports Week of Children School got underway on Wednesday, with ADC Mokokchung, Sachin Jaiswal IAS as the chief guest at Assam Rifles Ground, Mokokchung.
Speaking at the programme, the chief guest lauded the parents who have come along with the students to witness the three-day sports week and the teacher’s motivation to incarnate the feeling of sports among the students.
Saying that a healthy brain lays with a healthy mind, he also stated that as government officials, they too take out their time schedule for sports activities because it kept their mind healthy and to do work in very organised manner.
The ADC also encouraged the students not to restrict their arena on studies alone but to look beyond and advised them to study what they can gain from their studies and to concentrate what they can derive from their studies.
The school headmaster, Rangjit Singh also spoke at the event. He urged the sports committee of the school to conduct the sports not as a duty to perform but with a purpose to find talents among the students and to nurture their talents.
Meanwhile, the children were divided into four different houses – Barcelona, Chelsea, Man-united and Borussia Dortmund-the activities were further subdivided into 'senior, junior and sub-junior'. The main events that will be played during the three days sports week will be football, basketball, handball, tug of war, penalty shootout and other exciting activities.
