Dimapur, July 9 (EMN): Children of police personnel of the Nagaland Armed Police Training Centre in Chumukedima in Dimapur interacted with the governor of Nagaland PB Acharya, on July 9 during their visit to the Raj Bhavan in Kohima.
During the interactions, updates stated on Tuesday, Acharya exhorted the children to perform their duties to their studies as students, and to shine in their field of academic pursuit.
The governor’s establishment issued a press release to the media on Tuesday informing about the programme.
Acharya exhorted the students to “focus on their talents” and to work towards achieving their goals. “Stating that education was the pillar of development, the governor encouraged students to take their studies with all seriousness.
Acharya emphasised also on the importance of taking skill courses and to take the challenge of being an entrepreneur,” the press release quoted him as having said.
At the event, commissioner-secretary to the governor, Dinesh Kumar, welcomed the children to the Raj Bhavan. He urged them to enjoy the opportunity of visiting and interacting with the governor. He wished for them a visit they will cherish, the updates stated.
The commandant of the NAPTC, Ben Longkumer said that the NAPTC has a vibrant and active family welfare association, led by his wife as the president. He said that the association aims at ‘holistic development’ and ‘fulfilment of social obligations through various welfare measures, social empowerment and skill building of spouses and dependents of the unit personnel.’
Longkumer said that a sightseeing trip to Kohima was planned as a welfare initiative and as a positive group activity for the children of the NAPTC during their summer holidays. He expressed gratitude to the governor for hosting the children at Raj Bhavan.
A folk song was sung by the children at the event. 52 children n the age group of 10 to 23 years, accompanied by unit officers and members of the NAPTC family welfare association attended the interactive meeting, the press release added.
