Dimapur, Feb. 12 (EMN): Rural health workers in Mon block under the aegis of the Integrated Child Development Services of the Social Welfare department in Mon observed ‘Deworming Day’ by giving de-worming tablets to children.
The department of Information and Public Relations (IPR), the government’s publicity agency, gave updates to the media on Wednesday informing about the programme.
The programme was observed in the Anganwadi centres on February 10, the updates stated. During the day, the Anganwati workers administered Albendazole tablets to children, the IPR reported.
‘The objective of the day is to de-worm all preschool and school-age children through the platform of Angawadi centres,’ the IPR stated. ‘It also aims to improve the overall health, nutritional status, access to education and quality of life of the children.’
