Dimapur, July 27 (EMN): A three-day International Children's Film Festival (ICFF), popularly known as ‘The Golden Elephant,’ organised by the Children's Film Society of India (CFSI) in partnership with Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) and Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) got underway at Regional Centre of Excellence for Music and Performing Arts (RCEMPA), Jotsoma, today. The festival will culminate on July 29.

In her welcome address, NBSE chairperson, Asano Sekhose said it is a great opportunity that children's film festival is being organised for the first time in the State. She called upon the students to be receptive in their approach and to learn new things. She also urged the teachers to involve their students in the various activities that will be held during the festival. She mentioned that this festival will help students to learn more about the art and culture of other people and also to appreciate other cultures.
Project Director of Music Task Force, Gugs Chishi, pointed out that "Youth is the best time to shed all inhibitions and to learn; if one does not understand, he/she should shrug off the cloak of fear and be bold enough to clarify their doubts."
The International Children's Film Festival, which is a biennial festival, is an initiative of Dr. Shravan Kumar, CEO, CFSI, and representing him, president of CFSI, Supriya Rohit mentioned that the festival will give insight to a child's perspective and their inner creativity. He added that it will also bring about exchange of culture. He said CFSI's vision of the festival lies in creating a platform where children can have access to national and international movies from their catalogue, participate in various workshops and indulge in fun learning experience. The festival focuses on creating dialogues, conversations and interactions.
During the three days festival, national and international films will be screened and various workshops will be conducted on varied topics such as ‘Overview of film making,’ ‘Grammar of film making,’ ‘Expressing your creativity through mobiles,’ ‘Creative expressions through digital media,’ ‘Story board competition,’ ‘Photography workshop’ and ‘Little director workshop.’
Four students each from five schools namely Little Flower Higher Secondary School, Northfield School, Minister's Hill Higher Secondary School, Fernwood and Alderville have been selected for the Little Director workshop.
The programme was chaired by Mechuni W Iralu, while the invocation prayer was pronounced by pastor of Calvary Church, Jotsoma, Rev. KelhusetoNagi. A special song was presented by Neingusalie Yano and also a folk dance was presented by Benreu Students’ Union, Kohima.
The 20th edition of the International Children's Film Festival will be held at Hyderabad, Telangana, in November, 2017.
