Child Rights Week observed in Zunheboto: child protection committee apprised of its roles

DIMAPUR — There are two children homes and one observation home in Zunheboto district to look after children in need of care and protection (CNCP) and juvenile in conflict with law (JCL) respectively, said District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) during the Child Rights Week held in Zunheboto from November 14 to the 21st.

The DCPO also highlighted the roles and responsibilities of village-level child protection committee (VLCPC) and asked them to approach the competent authority viz. Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Special Juvenile Police Unit (SJPU) and District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) whenever cases arise, updated DIPR on Friday.

The DCPU Zunheboto, Mission Vatsalya, Department of Social Welfare observed the Child Rights Week by conducting awareness and sensitization programmes on the roles of VLCPC at Satakha, Suruhoto and Zunheboto blocks.
