- DIMAPUR — In the
aftermath of reports of attempts by unidentified individuals to lure children,
the Chümoukedima Town Students' Union (CTSU) and the Chakhroma Students' Union
(CSU) have issued public safety circulars urging parents, guardians, school
authorities, and community members to take immediate precautionary measures to
protect children and students.
- In a circular, the CTSU urged school authorities to issue
internal notices to all staff and students, strictly instructing that no
student shall leave the school premises with any individual who is not
authorised or officially identified.

- It called for strengthening supervision during arrival,
recess, and dispersal hours to ensure children remain within safe and monitored
areas and maintaining vigilance around schools, playgrounds, and other public
spaces frequented by children.
- CTSU noted the need to promptly report any suspicious
activities or individuals to the nearest law enforcement agency or village
authority.
- The union instructed parents and guardians to counsel
children on the dangers of engaging with strangers, regardless of how familiar
or friendly they may appear, and never to leave with anyone without prior
parental consent.
- It also stated that children must not be left unattended,
whether at home, school, or in any public setting.
- The CSU similarly directed all unit presidents to organise
and dispatch volunteers to maintain vigilance around school premises and to
deploy volunteers for routine security checks and area patrols, especially
around school zones, tuition centres, and high-traffic student areas.
- It sought collaboration with local police outposts and
village councils to stay informed and ensure swift communication in case of
emergencies and the conduct of briefings within respective jurisdictions to
alert students and parents about recent incidents and educate them on
precautionary measures.
- “We strongly urge the general public to remain vigilant. If
you witness any suspicious activity, particularly involving minors, unmarked
vehicles, or unknown individuals loitering near schools or public spaces,
please report it immediately to the nearest police station or report it to the
local village authorities,” it read.
