- KOHIMA — The 41st
annual sports meet of the Chiiziema Youth Organisation (CYO) commenced on
December 26, with Mhasimhalie Matthew Yhome, president of the Kohima District
Football Association, as the chief guest.
- Addressing the opening ceremony, Yhome shared his experience
in his football career, having completed 25 years playing at various levels as
well as obtaining the AFC C licence coaching qualification.
- To be a good sportsperson, he said, one requires discipline,
dedication, determination, sincerity, and, above all, God’s blessings.
- He urged the youth to avoid alcohol, tobacco, and drugs. To
be a good player, one should respect parents, elders, leaders, and coaches, he
said.
- He thanked the state government for promoting sports and, at
the same time, commended Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and the Advisor to the CM,
Abu Metha, for advancing sports across the state.
- Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by CYO president
Avituo Zatsu, while CYO sports secretary Neisakholie Pienyii administered the
oath to the participating teams. The programme was led by CYO vice president
Vivolie Pienyii.
- Kesoneilie Theiinuo, former chairman of Thizama Village
Council, will attend the valedictory function on December 30.
