Chiephobozou block undertakes cleanliness drive

DIMAPUR — Joining the nationwide Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) campaign 2025, the PHED, Kohima Urban and Rural Division, in collaboration with the Chiephobozou Town Council, on Tuesday conducted a cleanliness drive at the Chiephobozou block dumping site, NH-02 stretch, market shed, park and in all its constituent wards.

An update from PHED Kohima division stated that people came out in large numbers in their respective wards and carried out the cleaning drive including grass cutting and collection of large amount of plastic and other wastes despite the foggy weather and intermittent rains.

It stated that cleanliness drive was carried out from 7 am to 10 am, wherein truckload of plastic wastes was collected ward-wise. It added that the stretch on National Highway-02, market shed and park as well as stadium area were also thoroughly cleaned.

It stated that the Chiephobozou Town Council (CTC) has extended support to the department by providing manpower, which greatly contributed to the success of the cleaning drive. It added that an excavator was engaged at the dumping site by the town council to expand the area of dumping site near the PHED’s plastic waste management unit (PMWU) site.

Meanwhile, the department has expressed gratitude to the Chiephobozou Town Council for their support and cooperation throughout the programme.
