KOHIMA — Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio met with his Assam counterpart Himanta Biswa Sarma in Dimapur on Wednesday and discussed ways to strengthen collaboration and to ensure continued peace and harmony between the two states.

"Had an excellent meeting with the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Nagaland Shri Neiphiu Rio ji at Dimapur," Sarma wrote on X after the meeting.

Without going into detail, Sarma stated that they "discussed ways to deepen our collaboration and expand our engagements towards continued peace and harmony between both our States".

It may be recalled that the duo had earlier met with the Union Home Minister Amit Shah in December last year to discuss issues of mutual interest including ways to resolve the inter-state boundary disputes. The union minister was acknowledged for his pivotal role in ushering peace in the region.

"Grateful to him (Amit Shah) for his personal concern and commitment towards peace and development in Nagaland and the entire Northeast region," Rio said said after the meeting last year.
