Dimapur, Sep. 27 (EMN): Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio has directed the home department and commissioner of Nagaland to take all necessary actions with regard to the mass social work that will commence from Sep. 29 and conclude on Oct. 2. The social work is being organised to restore the damage cause by the recent rains and landslides.
A DIPR news update informed that a communiqué from the chief minister’s office had asked the home department to issue directives to all the deputy commissioners who will be coordinating the works by involving all administrative officers along with officers of other line departments.
It also notified that the social work will be undertaken by involving the elected members, police, ward/colonies of the town, civil society organisations, contractors and tribe bodies.
It stated that the chief minister will lead the social work in Kohima and the funds for the social work will be provided from the chief minister’s relief fund.
It also directed that adequate publicity for the social work be ensured through various media outlets to ensure active participation of citizens. The debris after conducting the social work should be removed to the dumping sites by the trucks/vehicles of various departments and of those belonging to contractors who voluntarily offer their services.
It also directed that the respective municipal councils should hire the manual labour, the task of which was entrusted to the respective administrators to personally take responsibility. It also directed the deputy commissioners to work out a plan along with the ADCs/SDO (Civil) and EACs and allocate specific locations in the towns and districts where the work will be taken up. For this, the CMO directed that for each locations, the responsibility should be assigned to individual officers in order to make social work success.
“All efforts should be made by all concerned to ensure that we are able to reclaim and rebuild the state,” the DIPR quoted the CMO’s communiqué as stating.
