CM Neiphiu Rio showcases Nagaland’s cultural richness and tourism at Bharat Utsav 2025, strengthening India-Russia cultural ties.

DIMAPUR — Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio highlighted Nagaland’s cultural heritage and tourism potential during the closing ceremony of Bharat Utsav 2025, held at Moscow’s historic Manezhnaya Square on July 13.
Addressing the gathering as chief guest, Rio underscored the enduring strategic partnership between India and Russia, noting that the festival’s success had brought the two nations closer through a shared celebration of India’s culture, music, dance, yoga, and cuisine, according to a DIPR update issued on Monday.
He highlighted Nagaland’s participation in the festival, describing the state as “a land of breathtaking beauty and profound cultural richness.” Rio invited the people of Russia to visit Nagaland and experience its indigenous traditions, arts, crafts, and textiles firsthand, calling it “a treasure trove of heritage and diversity.”
Rio also commended the Indian Embassy in Moscow, led by Ambassador Vinay Kumar, for organising the event in collaboration with the Moscow City Government.
Extending an invitation to Moscow city officials, he encouraged them to visit Nagaland during the Hornbill Festival.
According to the update, Nagaland was prominently featured throughout the festival. The Department of Tourism, led by Minister Temjen Imna Along, promoted the state through the ‘Incredible India’ campaign with presentations, literature, and engagements designed to boost interest in Nagaland as a tourist destination.

Meanwhile, the Department of Industries & Commerce, headed by Advisor Hekani Jakhalu, showcased ‘Made in Nagaland’ products at a dedicated pavilion. The display featured traditional textiles, handicrafts, agricultural products, Nagaland Coffee, and handloom items, drawing significant interest from visitors.
The cultural segment of the closing ceremony included performances by artists from Gujarat and Nagaland. A 25-member delegation from Nagaland, curated by the Task Force for Music & Arts (TAFMA) under Chairman Theja Meru, presented folk music, traditional dances, fusion music, and a rendition of a Russian song.
Indian Ambassador to Russia Vinay Kumar, who attended as a special guest, acknowledged the enthusiastic response from Moscow’s citizens and praised the contributions of participating states, singling out Nagaland’s vibrant performances as reflective of India’s cultural diversity.
He expressed confidence that Bharat Utsav 2025 would further strengthen bilateral ties and deepen people-to-people connections between India and Russia.
As part of his itinerary, Rio met members of the Indian diaspora and business representatives and addressed a joint press conference with the Indian Ambassador.
He also participated in an interview and discussion with Russia Today television, toured its headquarters, and interacted with media officials, the update stated.
