Nagaland leaders mourn Governor La Ganesan’s demise, recalling his integrity, humility, and dedication to unity and development.

DIMAPUR — The passing of Nagaland Governor La Ganesan on Friday in Chennai has drawn an outpouring of grief from state leaders, who hailed his integrity, humility, and dedication to public service.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, in his condolence message, said he was “deeply saddened” by the loss, describing Ganesan as a man of “integrity, principle, great wisdom, and moral strength.”
Appointed as the 21st governor of Nagaland on February 11, 2023, Rio noted that Ganesan worked tirelessly to promote unity and development in the state while remaining simple and connected to the grassroots.

“The void left by his passing will be deeply felt, but we take comfort in the legacy of service, courage, and leadership he leaves behind,” Rio said, extending condolences on behalf of the state government and his family.
Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton described Ganesan’s tenure as one marked by “dedicated service to the people and a firm commitment to strengthening harmony.” Patton praised his ability to engage across communities, fostering unity and trust, and expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
TR Zeliang, also Deputy Chief Minister, called Ganesan a “distinguished leader who upheld the highest ideals of public service with humility, dedication, and integrity.” He said Ganesan connected with people without distinction and worked selflessly for their welfare.
Health and Family Welfare Minister P Paiwang Konyak paid tribute, describing Ganesan’s service as one defined by dedication, wisdom, and humility. “May the Almighty grant strength and comfort during this time of grief, and may the departed soul rest in eternal peace,” he said.
