Dimapur, May 22 (EMN): The chief justice of Gauhati High Court, Ajit Singh on May 19 inaugurated the district court for Peren at the new Deputy Commissioner Complex. DPRO updated about the event on Saturday.
Speaking at the inaugural function, the chief justice said that he is proud to announce that district court will be able to deliver justice and legal services to the public at large. He added that the district court will boost judiciary in the district. He also expressed hope that new courts will be introduced across the state so that judicial officers ensure that legal rights are protected at all cost.
Gauhati High Court judges S Serto and LS Jamir also spoke on the occasion.
The Chief Justice Ajit Singh also inaugurated the mega-legal service camp at local ground in Peren on May 19 as chief guest.
The camp was organised by the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) and Peren District Legal Services Authority in collaboration with government departments, stakeholders and non- governmental organizations.
Stressing on the need to extend protection to the people, Singh said the camp is to make the people to understand the schemes and make awareness on eliminating child marriage and discrimination in the state.
Judge of Gauhati High Court, LS Jamir, who is also the executive chairman of NSLSA, emphasized on the need to create awareness and empower citizens through camp. He informed that the mega-legal services camps began from Jan. this year and would be launching in Phek during the month of June. Deputy Commissioner Peren, Smita Sarangi also deliver speech.
During the camp, chief justice also released NSLA’s theme song “Sob ke insaf dibo,” composed by Along Longchar and Sunep Lemtur
30 stalls of various government departments and NGOs including 36 Assam Rifles Karam Veer was set up. Short felicitations by Nagaland Legal Services Authority and Zeliang People Organisation were the other highlights of the programme.
