A Odyuo from Wokha village and Pairamlungle from Jalukie town won the first and
second positions respectively of the state-level PM SHRI Schools (Prime
Minister’s Schools for Rising India) debate competition held at the Morung Hall
of the Directorate of School Education in Kohima on Friday.
The state-level PM SHRI Schools debate competition was
organised by Samagra Shiksha Nagaland under the PM SHRI scheme on the topic
‘Viksit Bharat and its contours.’
An update from the School Education department stated that
students of PM SHRI GHS and GHSS from eight districts across Nagaland
participated in the competition.
K Yanon Konyak, senior lecturer at SCERT Nagaland, chaired
the formal event and welcomed all the participants as well as acknowledged the
efforts of teacher escorts in supporting the students' participation.
Dr. Kevizakie Rio, joint mission director of Samagra Shiksha
and state nodal officer of PM SHRI Nagaland, delivered the keynote address and
provided an overview of the importance of the competition.
He highlighted how under the scheme, schools were
established across the country as PM SHRI schools to showcase the
implementation of NEP 2020 and emerge as exemplary schools over a period and
how it aims to create and nurture holistic and well-rounded individuals
equipped with key 21st century skills.
He further challenged the students and teachers to strive
towards making each PM SHRI school in Nagaland an exemplary school.
Dr. Bijano Murry, joint mission director of Samagra Shiksha,
was the moderator, while Moalong Imty, joint director of SCERT, and Visetonuo
Angami, assistant director of School Education, were the judges of the
competition.
