Dimapur, Dec. 30: In protest against non-implementation of the 1964 agreement inked between the Anghs of Chi and Mon village along with the village representatives and the State Government representative T Alibah Ao, the then ADC of Mon town, Chi and Mon Land Owners’ Association, Mon Town has decided to boycott the ensuing election to Mon Town Council.
In this connection, the association held a rally in Mon town on Friday. Chi and Mon citizens and members of village unions that fall under the Anghship of Chi and Mon numbering around 3000 took part in the rally holding placards that read: ‘We demand our justice’, ‘Fulfill our demand immediately’, ‘Do not take land owners for a ride’ and ‘Stop torturing the land owners’. The rally that began at Newsite junction passed through the town to the NST junction and culminated at DC office Mon. The association submitted a memorandum to DC Mon seeking necessary action.
