Chess coaching camp underway in Chümoukedima

Students compete against each other on the first day of the chess coaching camp at Ikishe village, Chümoukedima, on May 9.

DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Chess Association is organising a chess coaching camp from May 9 to the 13th at DMI St. Joseph's Global School in Ikishe village, Chümoukedima.

According to an update, the initiative is being undertaken as part of the programme of the All India Chess Federation (AICF), which aims to introduce chess as a subject in schools nationwide in the near future.

More than 100 students are participating in the camp, with four coaches/trainers assuming responsibility for their instruction.

The four trainers include Mughaho Awomi, an international arbiter and national instructor who also serves as a chess instructor at the directorate of Youth Resources and Sports; Bovito Yeptho, an AICF chess trainer; Pikuto Chishi, also an AICF chess trainer; and Nipeto Hesso, a national arbiter and AICF chess trainer.
