Dimapur, October 4: Alumni Association of Patkai Christian College (AAPCC), Students’ Union Patkai Christian College (SUPCC) and Post Graduate Students’ Welfare Committee (PGSWC), in collaboration with Fingerprint, have jointly decided to stage a charity musical concert under the banner ‘Patkai Road Project’ to raise fund for road repairing leading to the college.
The team conceived this idea in the month of July 2016 considering the harsh realities that the students face especially during the rainy seasons, says Rejulong Lemtur, vice president of SUPCC.
“The students have to persevere with the harsh road condition and Patkai being a premier institute needs good road connectivity and the community felt the need for better facilities,” added the student leader.
Though the Patkai roads have received occasional touch-ups, no concrete construction has been taken up resulting in the disintegration of even the touch-ups. The mission was led by Fingerprint, spearheaded by Hongba Phom, alumnus of the college (2003 batch), who approached the student and the alumni community for this project, accounted Lemtur.
Out of 7 km stretch of campus road, the Road Project Committee - which comprises of alumni of the Patkai College, planned to construct 1.4 km only with the budget amount of Rs 80 lakhs. To generate money for ‘Patkai Road Project’, the team has decided to organise musical concert on October 7 at Bundrock Chapel cum auditorium of Patkai Christian College.
This concert is aimed at generating money for the project and at the same time to create awareness regarding the Road Project undertaken by the Alumni Community. The committee planned to start the construction by the month of November 2016.
Alobo Naga, an alumnus of the college, will be performing with his band ANTB. Other artistes included The Gluttones, Virie & Zaza, Tekhengulo-u, Nuvusalu, Slice of Heaven and Pocket Toons. The concert will start from 5 p.m. with tickets priced at Rs 100 for general and Rs 500 for donors.
