Eastern Mirror Desk Dimapur, March 25: Benevolent volunteers continue to come forward to reach out to the people affected by the March 23 fire that razed houses at Y Zhimo colony in Signal Angami area of Dimapur. The fire rendered 30 families homeless. An organisation calling themselves ‘Dimapur Bongs’ also came forward to lend a hand to the affected. The organisation had set up a relief camp for two days March 25 and the 26th. They provided breakfast and dinner to the affected. The president of Dimapur Bongs expressed appreciation for the contribution and charity in cash and kind given by organisations and individuals. Food vendors, shopkeepers and individuals are involved directly or indirectly in the contribution. A young girl identified as R Taman, from a neighbouring hostel, came forward and contributed some cash from her pocket while a staff of PL Bagri & co provided with a generator on the second day. All these acts from the individuals have added to the assistance, one of the volunteers of the organisation commented. “Dimapur culture is selfless. People come forward to help without any hesitation and this is the beauty of Dimapur and Nagas in general,” one said. The organisation had set up a relief camp in the premises of the Nagamese Nepali Baptist Church since the past two days. The group said that although they wish to continue providing, they might not be able to continue to do so because of their work commitment as they were all working individuals employed in various organisations.
