Dimapur, Sep. 3 (EMN): Mentioning that the community health centre (CHC) in Changtongya town, which was inaugurated in 1988 has been running with only one doctor in a 30-bedded hospital, the chairman of All Ward Union, Changtongya town, T Meyi Longkumer issued a press statement requesting the government to immediately intervene and ease the plight of the public.
“It is learnt that in one CHC hospital, at least five doctors headed by a senior medical officer must be working round the clock.
However, in Changtongya CHC, only one Ayush doctor, Dr. Wapang has been working tirelessly for the welfare of the public,” the statement alleged.
The updates further informed that one dental doctor has also been performing her duties from Mokokchung. She comes to Changtongya once a week. Apart from that the other doctors are nowhere to be found, the updates added.
According to the updates, the leaders of Changtongya town area had submitted many applications and representations to higher authorities and had even met the authority in Kohima. However, the release alleged that the authorities had turned a deaf ear to the public’s demand.
“The PDA government can only afford to post a lone Ayush doctor to look after the whole 30-bedded hospital. This is beyond human imagination and a surprising thing in this modern world,” the updates remarked.
“Therefore if the present state government continue to ignore our genuine demands, we the public of Changtongya town area shall be compelled to observe indefinite bandh from 2nd October by blocking National Highway 62 and Longleng road,” the statement asserted.
