Dimapur, Aug. 28 (EMN): Changki village council (CVC) has condemned, in strongest term, the act of brutality and violence committed by a group of Nagaland Armed Police personnel upon UBSI Athangba of Changki village and officer in-charge of Tsutapela check gate in Mokokchung district on August 23.
The village press release jointly issued by its chairman, Lendimenba Amri, and the secretary, Nungshiluen, alleged that the police personnel surrounded the victim with full arms in civvies at the time of the incident.
The council release stated that such brutality- that too from those charged with the duty to ensure peace in the land, should not be tolerated in any society.
The council expressed utmost trust in the police department’s capability to conduct an impartial and swift investigation into the incident and serve stringent punishment to those involved in the barbaric assault.
The council has warned of pursuing its own course of action against those involved in the brutal assault in the event if the actions of the department were not to its satisfaction.
