Dimapur, Jan. 8 (EMN): The four-day conference cum sports meet of the Changki Students’ Union (CSU) got underway at Orija Salang in Changki village on January 8 on the theme “Rediscover our identity.”
Changki students units from Mokokchung, Dimapur, Kohima, Chumukedima, Mangkolemba and a combined team from Nokon, Merayim, Naronikum and Longnak are attending the conference.
The curtain raiser was performed by Changki students’ union, Dimapur. The four-day event would include workshop on pottery, hymnal competition, games and sports and talent show.
Mrs Medemnokchala Jamir has invoked God’s blessings, while Taliwapang Pongen, president of Changki students’ union, welcomed the invitees and delegates on behalf of the union. A word of blessings was conveyed by Lendimenba Amri, chairman of Changki village council, which was followed by a song presented by Changki students’ union, Mokokchung.
T John Longkumer, DGP Nagaland and special invitee of the programme, made mentioned of a galaxy of luminaries from Changki who blazed the trail in Changki history. He also stated that Changkians were able to accomplish much because of their wholehearted acceptance of Christianity and the pioneering work that the Christian leaders had done. He encouraged the youngsters to have dreams, to be determined and to have passion to reach the goal.
Dr. Tiasunep Amri, associate professor of Nagaland University, encouraged the delegates to preserve the Changkian identity, culture and language.
The inaugural programme concluded with a prayer by Rev. Imlila Amri, women associate pastor of Changki Yimlang Baptist Church.
