Dimapur, Nov. 10 (EMN): Failure of the state’s Education department to depute personnel has left one officer in Tuensang district to assume the charge of 'five offices' in the same department, according to the Confederation of Chang Students’ Union (CCSU). A press release from the union on Sunday informed that the District Education Office of Tuensang was functioning without “DEO, ADEO, JEO and (a) full-fledged HA”. “(It is) shocking to learn the present status of Sr. SDEO Tuensang, who is holding the charge of DEO Tuensang, SDEO Noklak, SDEO Shamator and SDEO Longkhim,” it stated. “Is it not a torture or (a) punishment?” the union wondered. According to the CCSU, some officers do not want to come to work because they find the office ‘messy’. “If the officers are unable to handle and shoulder responsibility, why become an officer? Give opportunity to young officers who are ready to be posted anywhere for any responsibility,” read the statement. Also, the union reminded that it had submitted a representation to the Directorate of School Education on July 22 concerning placement of teachers in Chang area. “It is our earnest request to the department to kindly look into the matter before CCSU take up another step; and reminding the government once again not to consider Tuensang as a ‘dumping ground’ or a posting place for ‘would be retiring’ officer(s),” it stated. The union demanded “early posting” of the aforementioned officers, and teaching staff. Also reminding of the government’s notifications for enforcement of ‘no work no pay’ policy, the CCSU asked all government employees in Tuensang district to be “regular in their duties”.
