Three Chang apex bodies have condemned the alleged shooting of Langshi Chang and urged a speedy, fair and impartial investigation and strict legal action.
DIMAPUR — The Chang Khulei Setshang (Chang Tribal Council), Chang Wedoshi Setshang (Chang Students’ Conference) and Changsao Thangjam Setshang (Chang Women Organisation) have condemned the alleged attempted murder of Langshi Chang of Chendang Saddle village under Tuensang district.
In a statement, the three Chang apex bodies said Langshi was allegedly shot at by Medochülie Rürhie, a resident of Chiechema village, Kohima district, on September 16.
They described the incident as “shocking, reprehensible and completely unacceptable” and said the victim, who is the breadwinner of his family, had come to earn a livelihood.

The organisations urged law-enforcement agencies to conduct a speedy, fair and impartial investigation and book the accused under all applicable provisions of law, including the Arms Act, if applicable.
They called for strict legal action without any compromise or dilution of the gravity of the alleged offence and demanded that the accused be brought to justice in accordance with law.
The three bodies also urged the authorities to provide the victim and his family with necessary medical, legal and administrative assistance, and warned that any delay in the investigation or failure to take appropriate action could undermine public confidence in the rule of law.
The organisations said they would continue to monitor the matter and expressed solidarity with Langshi Chang and his family.
