Chakhroma Public Organisation to hold July 17 rally over Maova village dispute, demanding recognition of traditional landowners and action
DIMAPUR — The Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO) will organise a peaceful rally at Jharnapani (New Medziphema) on July 17 to protest what it described as the state's failure to address the ongoing dispute involving Maova village and the non-recognition of traditional landowners.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the organisation informed that the rally would begin at 10 am and is intended to express its "strong displeasure" over the government's alleged lackadaisical approach to the issue.
The CPO maintained that it remains firm in its claim as the traditional landowner and would not compromise on what it described as its ancestral rights.
According to the organisation, a brief programme will be held at the Peren–Nagaland University Medziphema Campus road junction before participants march to the office of the additional deputy commissioner, Medziphema, where a memorandum will be submitted to the state government.
The organisation appealed to tribal bodies and the public to participate in the rally, saying it aims to safeguard ancestral rights that it believes are under threat.
