Dimapur, Jan. 29 (EMN): The Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF) has resolved to uphold a number of resolutions of the Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) in conserving environment in the Chakhesang-inhabited areas of Phek district. The standing resolutions are:
1. Indiscriminate burning of jungle; it is strictly restricted; persons who violate the resolution shall be penalized with a fine of INR 20, 000.
2. Collection, extraction of medicinal plants is banned; a fine of INR 5000 shall be imposed on individuals who violate the resolution; goods shall be confiscated by the authorities in concern.
3. Hunting is ‘strictly restricted’ throughout the year. Capturing, coursing, snaring, trapping or baiting any bird or wild animal is restricted.
4. Any person found carrying weapons, explosives, firearms, poison, snares and traps or apparatus capable of anaesthetizing, destroying, injuring or killing of birds and wild animals shall be penalized with a fine of INR 5000; equipments and apparatuses shall be seized.
5. Use of any equipments or apparatuses such as batteries, generators, chemicals, etc., for fishing is strictly prohibited; a fine of INR 5000 will be imposed on persons who violate the resolution; the penalty can be enhanced depending on the extent of damage caused.
6. Import of pigs weighting below 30 kgs for rearing only shall be allowed to interested persons or party. Health certificates from the Veterinary dept. must be produced to the authority.
7. Import of piglets/pigs above the prescribed weight is strictly restricted. Defaulters will be penalized with a fine of INR 20, 000 irrespective of quantity.
The public are earnestly requested to abide by the resolutions passed by the CPO and implemented by the CYF for the welfare of the community.
Subordinate area youth presidents, town youth presidents and village youth presidents are requested to implement the resolutions in their respective area.
