A day before its seven-day ultimatum to the state government expires, the Centre Chakhesang Youth Organisation (CCYO) has barred outsiders from entering seven villages under its jurisdiction
DIMAPUR — A day before its seven-day ultimatum to the state government expires, the Centre Chakhesang Youth Organisation (CCYO) has barred outsiders, including government personnel, from entering seven villages under its jurisdiction and directed its youth units to remain prepared for “any eventuality”.
The directive, issued on Saturday, follows the organisation’s September 28 ultimatum over the case involving Vezhoto Hesuh, the seizure of a Great Barbet from Porba village and its demand for an inquiry into an alleged INR 1 lakh demand in connection with Hesuh’s release.
The Forest department had returned the seized Great Barbet to Porba village on September 30, addressing one of the demands raised by the CCYO.

In its latest directive, however, the CCYO said that while “some demands” had been fulfilled, efforts were still underway to resolve the remaining issues and bring the matter to a “logical conclusion”.
The directive covers Lower Khomi, Middle Khomi, Upper Khomi, Pholami, Gidemi, Sakraba and Porba. It warned that outsiders entering the villages would do so at their own risk.
There is no restriction on vehicular movement along the Pfutsero-Phek road or traditional footpaths (Rüvücho). However, the CCYO has prohibited photography and videography within its jurisdiction without its authorisation.
It has also directed its office bearers and village youth organisation officials stationed outside the Centre Chakhesang area to return to their respective villages within 48 hours.
