DIMAPUR — The Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) has slammed what it termed an “arbitrary raid” carried out by the Assam Rifles on the evening of March 12, alleging that the general secretary of the Phek Students’ Union (PSU) was publicly blamed and treated as a suspect in connection with factional activities.
In a condemnation note issued on Saturday, the CSU described the action as a “despicable act” that not only hurt the sentiments of the individual concerned but also undermined the dignity of the peace-loving Chakhesang community.
The union also reiterated its stance of non-cooperation with the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA), stating that the law, imposed by the Ministry of Home Affairs, grants “unbridled power” to armed forces operating in the region.

Directing all its affiliated and subordinate units to abstain from any association with Indian armed forces functioning under the purview of AFSPA, the CSU further urged the government to heed public sentiment and repeal the law without delay.
Stating that the people of Nagaland had suffered oppression for far too long, the union asserted that repealing AFSPA was imperative for restoring peace and justice in the state.
