
Delegates attend the third union assembly of the Chakhesang Students' Union held at
Zhavame village on May 24.
- DIMAPUR — The Chakhesang Students' Union (CSU)
convened its third union assembly for the 2024–2026 tenure on May 24 at Zhavame
village.
- A total of 48 affiliated and subordinate units of CSU, the
president of Naga Students' Federation, and senior leaders of CSU attended the
union assembly, according to a press release.
- The key agenda of the assembly concerned the agitation
against the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation
Limited (NHIDCL) and EPC contractor M/S Ratna Infra Project Pvt. Ltd. for
negligence and inaction on the NH-29 Kohima-Jessami road (Package II,
Chakhabama-Kikruma stretch).
- It was mentioned that the house reaffirmed its commitment to
continue the agitation until the Union's demands are fulfilled.

- Other agendas discussed were: strict implementation of the
Inner Line Permit; monitoring of proxy teachers; monitoring of government
employees’ irregularities; restrictions on taxation of local entrepreneurs to
promote entrepreneurship and innovation; and collecting data on Chakhesang
culture and traditions for preservation and digital documentation.
- The house also deliberated the issue of teacher shortages
within its jurisdiction.
- Zuketsa Students' Union came forward to host the 79th
general session of the Chakhesang Students' Union, which will be held in
February 2026. Meanwhile, the union expressed its appreciation to Zhavame
Students' Union for hosting the assembly and for the hospitality.
