Dimapur, Sep. 23 (EMN): The Chakhesang Students' Union Dimapur organised its 29th Freshers’ day-cum-social gathering at Western Chakhesang Hoho conference Hall. The event was held on the theme ‘learning today, leading tomorrow’, according to a statement from the union.
Guest speaker, Rozelle Mero, managing director of The People Channel, shared that education needs to be skill-oriented. ‘A mere degree will not decide the future, one has to get real field experience by exploring more,’ she stressed.
Reflecting the theme, Mero felt that ‘a person is learning today through experience and that learning is leading the people tomorrow.’
"Be accountable of your mistakes, it’s okay to make mistakes, you are learning from it, but don’t repeat the same mistake," she said.
Meo also encouraged the students to adopt the habit of learning how to work without depending on others and do things that you can do by yourself.
Further, she advised the students "to accept where you belong. You have a reason to be where you are today. Stop criticising yourself of your backgrounds."
The president of Western Chakhesang Hoho, Dietho Rhakho, encouraged the students to involve more in social activities. He asserted that a student must be a useful citizen. He encouraged the students to be more outspoken, adopt the culture of taking opportunities, and try to work more with students from different communities.
