Dimapur, Feb. 20 (EMN): To ensure peaceful conduct of election and to curb the menace of alcohol in the society, the Chakhesang Mothers’ Association (CMA) had set up check gates in their respective areas and villages to check the inflow of intoxicating drinks into Phek district.
The mothers’ group had seized many wine bottles at the gates by sacrificing their energy, time and resources to save the people from the destruction of alcohol.
In addition, the Pfütsero Town Mothers’ Association (PTMA) had also conducted a surprise checking of wine selling along with police, Dobashis, youth and chairmen of the colonies. During checkings, huge quantity of illegal liquor worth INR 6 lakhs were seized and destroyed in the presence of police and administration. Meanwhile, Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC) has appreciated the various mothers’ association, youth, chairmen of all colonies, Dobashis, administrative officers, police, and all the people who have helped in checking sale of liquor.
“You have saved our people from the ill effects of liquor in our society. May God richly your endeavors and you continue to do good work for the welfare of our people,” CBCC executive secretary Rev. Dr. Vezopa Tetseo stated in a press statement.
