Chakhesang Hoho Kohima dedicated its newly constructed building near NHAK as an emergency public utility facility, with homestay and community services for families and travellers.
KOHIMA — The Chakhesang Hoho Kohima (CHK) on Tuesday dedicated its newly constructed CHK building near the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) junction for emergency public utility in the presence of CHK office bearers, community leaders and well-wishers.
The building was dedicated by Rev. Dr. Vevo Phesao, president of the Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC) and senior pastor of Chakhesang Baptist Church Ministers' Hill Kohima (CBCMHK), who also offered the dedicatory prayer.
In his exhortation, Rev. Phesao called upon the community to remain humble, fear God, commit themselves to His service and strive to become a mature and responsible society.
Speaking on the occasion, CHK general secretary and convenor of the building committee, Mutsivoyi Kotso, said that although the building still requires additional furnishing, the floors below the road level would be operated as a homestay with nominal charges, while the road-level floor would function as a public utility facility.
He said the facility would be particularly useful during emergencies, especially for families dealing with deaths at NHAK or while transporting deceased persons from other towns.

It would provide a convenient venue for funeral and send-off services, besides serving other community needs.
Advisor to CHK and former minister Zachilhu Vadeo, in his congratulatory address, commended the office bearers and the community for successfully completing the project.
Highlighting the sizeable Chakhesang population in Kohima, Vadeo said the building belongs to the entire community and would benefit all Chakhesang citizens.
He urged the community to continue fostering unity, adding that the building stands as a testament to what can be achieved through collective effort.
He also acknowledged the pioneers who initiated the project and appreciated the present leadership for bringing it to completion.
Pointing to the building's strategic location adjacent to NHAK and along the highway, Vadeo said the facility would serve both the community and travellers and remain beneficial for generations to come.
Earlier, CHK president Dozhohu Tunyi delivered the welcome address. The programme was chaired by CHK finance secretary Lhuvesayi Lohe, while the vote of thanks was delivered by joint secretary Chipakhuyi Rhakho.
