DIMAPUR — The Centre Chakhesang Public Organisation (CCPO), headquartered at Sakraba town in Phek district, has issued an ultimatum to the deputy commissioner (DC) of Phek, demanding urgent repair and maintenance of the Pfutsero–Phek two-lane road via Sakraba EAC headquarters.
In a letter addressed to the DC, the organisation expressed concern over what it described as the “negligence” of the KKB Company responsible for maintaining the road. The CCPO warned that if the authorities fail to ensure action before October 31, it would be “compelled to react with heavy action.”
The organisation stated that the road, constructed under government funding, continues to deteriorate due to landslides, collapsed retaining walls, sinking stretches, and poor workmanship. It added that despite the availability of maintenance funds for four to five years, “no machinery has been deployed within the allotted stretch as and when time calls for.”
The CCPO urged the authorities and the contractor to repair the collapsed retaining and protection walls, restore sinking portions and treat the damaged areas with proper technical care, and fix potholes and cracked sections by following due procedures instead of applying what it described as a “namesake thin layer of tar.”

It further called for the clearance of landslide debris and blocked drainages that continue to obstruct travel and affect local farmers and pressed for jungle clearance along the Zero Point 00km to 20km Pfutsero-Phek road via Sakraba, Porba, Pholami, and Khomi, which it said has not been carried out to date.
The organisation maintained that the quality of earlier repair works was “disappointing” and that several patched areas had already peeled off. It also alleged that private quarrying and developmental activities were damaging parts of the road.
Calling the sincerity of the contractor “highly questionable," the CCPO appealed to the district administration to take up the matter with the concerned authorities and deliberate on it in the PMU meeting. It urged the government to direct the company to complete the necessary works before the road’s maintenance period ends on November 13, 2025.
“Should there be any lapse on the part of the concerned authorities in dispensing their responsibilities on time, the organisation will be compelled to react with heavy action,” it added.
