Dimapur, Aug. 31 (EMN): The office of the chief electoral officer has issued a notice for information of all in concern that the Election Commission of India has launched the Electors Verification Programme, from September 1 to the 15th of October to verify electors’ details as well as to correct it, among other objectives.
The establishment of the electoral officer issued a copy of a notice to the media on Saturday informing about programme.
The objectives of the Electors Verification Programme are several.
It is to verify elector’s details and indicate corrections in details, if any, including photograph and authentication of entry.
It is to obtain details of family members and verifying their entries, removal of entries of shifted and dead electors, enrolment of un-enrolled citizens and to obtain details of prospective electors in the family.
Also, the programme is to obtain contact details/GIS coordinates with Smart Phone, to provide better electoral services, the election office stated.
It is to obtain inputs about existing/probable polling stations.
Also, it is to improve health of electoral roll by removal of DSEs and “logical errors,” besides improving delivery of electoral services, the notice stated.
Electors may verify their details through the “Voter helpline” Mobile app, which can be downloaded from Google Playstore, NVSP website (nvsp.in); by visiting Common Service Centres or ‘CSC’ or by visiting the Voter Facilitation Centres (VFCs) at ERO/AERO office, the note stated.
Voters who have disability may call the Voters’ helpline 1950 “seeking facilitation,” the notice stated.
Authentication of entry can be done by furnishing copy of one of the following documents: Indian Passport, driving license, Aadhaar, ration card, identity card for government/semi-government officials, bank passbooks, farmer’s identity card, PAN card, Smart Card issued by RGI under NPR; latest water/telephone/electricity/gas connection bill for that address either in the name of the applicant or that of his/her immediate relation like parents etc; any other document as approved by the commission.
