Dimapur, April 29 (EMN): The National General Secretary of Bharatya Janata Party (BJP), Tarun Chugh, on Friday said that the central government is satisfied with the coalition government in Nagaland as it is doing well and working for the public.
Chugh, who is in the state on a three-day visit to strengthen the party from the grassroots level in view of the upcoming 2023 state assembly election, said this at a press conference at Hotel Saramati in Dimapur.
When asked about BJP’s plan for the upcoming state assembly election, he replied the Central Election Committee will decide whether there will be seat sharing or not, adding that no one can determine the seats as it all depends on the committee.
This came a few days after Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said that the National Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and BJP would continue the pre-poll alliance in the upcoming 2023 elections too with the same 40-20 seat-sharing deal that was struck in 2018.
The BJP leader also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a huge interest in developing the Northeast region by enhancing its infrastructure, with special focus on Nagaland.
He stated that the BJP is working on a master plan for development of Nagaland and the Northeast, adding the NDA government had allocated the highest amount of Rural Development Fund for the region.
Citing the state’s first woman Rajya Sabha MP, who is from BJP, he said it had sent out a message that the party gives equal priority to women.
