Central government released an amount of INR 54.9 crore to Nagaland under PMAY-G scheme for Financial Year 2024-25.

KOHIMA — The central government has released an amount of INR 54.9 crore to Nagaland state under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) scheme (including PM-JANMAN) for the Financial Year 2024-25.
Under this scheme, Nagaland has been allocated a target of 48,830 houses, out of which 48,744 houses have been sanctioned and 36,239 houses have been completed till date.
This was informed by Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, Minister of State in the Ministry of Rural Development in his reply in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

The Centre also released a total of INR 4,779.60 crore to other north-eastern states (excluding Meghalaya and Sikkim) during the FY 2024-25 under the PMAY-G scheme including PM-JANMAN: INR 1 crore to Arunachal Pradesh, INR 4,336.24 crore to Assam, INR 169.63 crore to Manipur, INR 12.94 crore to Mizoram and INR 204.86 crore to Tripura.
The minister reiterated that to achieve the objective of ‘Housing for all’ in rural areas, the Ministry of Rural Development is implementing PMAY-G with effect from April 1, 2016, to provide assistance to eligible rural households for the construction of pucca houses with basic amenities.
He mentioned that the Union Cabinet has approved the proposal for the continuation of PMAY-G during FY 2024-25 to 2028-29 for the construction of 2 crore additional rural houses.
Under PMAY-G, Pemmasani clarified that the central assistance is released directly to the states and union territories (UTs), which in turn release them to beneficiaries.
He also informed that the existing Socio Economic Caste Census (SECC) 2011-based Permanent Wait List (PWL) and Awaas + 2018 list in respect of all north- eastern states (excluding the state of Assam) were saturated in FY 2023-24, while the Awaas + 2018 list for Assam was saturated in May 2025, to ensure benefits of the scheme to all eligible beneficiaries and realise the vision of ‘Housing for All.’
The MoS stated that during the period of COVID-19 pandemic induced nation-wide lockdown, construction of houses under PMAY-G were also affected.
He highlighted key challenges in PMAY-G implementation, including delayed fund releases, beneficiary unwillingness, migration issues, disputed successions, land allotment delays, and election-related disruptions.
Further, the cabinet has also approved the updating of the Awaas+ List using modified exclusion criteria. A new survey called Awaas + 2024 is being conducted by the states and UTs using eKYC face- based authentication for identification of additional eligible beneficiaries under the PMAY-G, Pemmasani added.
