Government of India extends ceasefire with Niki-led NSCN/GPRN for one year, effective till September 2026.

DIMAPUR — The ceasefire agreement between the government of India (GoI) and the NSCN/GPRN led by Niki Sumi, has been extended for another year, effective until September 7, 2026.
According to a statement from the group’s MIP, the ceasefire extension agreement was signed in New Delhi on Tuesday. The delegation representing the NSCN/GPRN was led by Supervisor of the Ceasefire Supervisory Board (CFSB), Abel Zingrü Thuer.
The document was signed by Thuer and Secretary of the CFSB, Ameka Achumi, on behalf of the NSCN/GPRN, and Joint Secretary Prashant Lokhande representing the Government of India.
The agreement stated that the ceasefire “aims to bring about a lasting peace in the state of Nagaland with the involvement of Naga people.”
It added that the ceasefire ground rules, already mutually agreed upon, will remain in effect and are subject to review and amendment with the involvement of both parties.
