
The six-day long 55th Centre Chakhesang Sports Association (CCSA) sports meet concluded on Saturday at Upper Khomi under Phek district.
The meet was hosted by Upper Khomi Youth Organisation on the theme “Excellence in sports through unity.”
In men's football, Upper Khomi defeated Sakrama 2-1 in the final match to lift the football title and take the late Poduyi Dzüdo trophy and a cash prize of INR 50,000.
The thrilling final saw host team Khomi scoring within the introduction of the match as Vetho Nienu tapped-in the first goal in the 22nd minute to stun the opponent team; and it took 19 minutes to score the second goal through Shekhohu Nakro.
Sakraba broke the deadlock four minutes before the end of the first half through Besuhkho D Vadeo. The second half saw Sakraba rejuvenated to find the equaliser but lack of finishing from the striker's end frustrated the team as Khomi team held on to the lead till the final whistle.
Meanwhile, in the women's football final, Middle Khomi defeated Porba via tie breaker 3-2 after the match ended in a goalless draw to take the Late Velakholü Khesoh Trophy along with INR 20,000.
In arm wrestling competition, Huluyi D Vadeo came in first place, followed by Nuta D Vadeo in second place.
For women's arm wrestling, Nuculu Dzudo took the first position and Kutholu Vero second.
Meanwhile, Mutsizo Lohe emerged as the men’s best athlete; and women’s best athlete went to Vetalu Vezuh.
The group championship title went to Porba village.
Earlier, Nezosa Tetseo, President, Phek District Sports Association attended the closing ceremony as the valedictory guest. A total of seven units under CCSA; Gidemi, Lower Khomi, Middle Khomi, Pholami, Porba, Sakraba and Upper Khomi competed in various sporting disciplines.
