Whatever critics or political opponents may say, it is a fact that central BJP leaders have shown concern for the Naga people. The BJP-led NDA has come to power two times in the Centre. When BJP first came to power, the then Prime Minister of BJP-led NDA, Atal Behari, personally visited Nagaland in 2003 and bailed out the state from financial crisis by giving huge financial package. Again when BJP came to power for the second time in 2014, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, also visited Nagaland and graced the Hornbill Festival last year. During his visit, Modi also assured employment to thousands of educated unemployed youths of North East Region including Nagaland. Now the proposed visit of BJP national president, Amit Shah, to Nagaland and other NE states is also an indication of the concern of BJP leaders for the NE Region. I am sure our BJP national president will also give a patient hearing to the problems faced by Nagas. With the good governance displayed by the present BJP government in the Centre, the popularity of the party has also surged in recent times in the NE Region too. I am very hopeful that the Nagaland State BJP will do very well in the 2018 state assembly elections. The State party has now retired bureaucrats and police officers (IAS and IPS) and former directors of various departments who are well versed in all aspects of development. With the State BJP growing from strength to strength every day, chances of the party forming the next government in the state is also very high. Hotongse Sangtam Active member, BJP Nagaland,
