The Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajiv Pratap Rudy has said that the ministry has entrusted the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) as implementation agency for setting up ‘Model Skill Development Centers’ in every district of India. So far Nagaland has eleven centers.
These centres are envisaged to offer industry-driven courses of high quality with focus on employability. The process in this regard has already been initiated with NSDC inviting Expression of Interest (EOI) on December 9, 2015.
He said that the training partners approved by the National Skill Development Corporation or the Sector Skill Council are exempted from Service Tax for services provided in relation to (a) the National Skill Development Programme implemented by the National Skill Development Corporation; or (b) a vocational skill development course under the National Skill Certification and Monetary Reward Scheme; or (c) any other Scheme implemented by the National Skill Development Corporation. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today the minister said the following non-statutory agencies have been designated for certification of skilled workers:
1) Central Board of Secondary Education.
2) State Boards for Secondary Education.
3) National Council for Vocational Training.
4) State councils for vocational training.
5) Sector Skill Councils set up through the National Skill Development Corporation.
