DIMAPUR — The
NSCN (K) led by Maj. Gen. (retired) Ang Mai, Nyeiton Konyak and Kughalu
Mulatono stated that any ceasefire with the “occupational India” should not be
used as an “agenda to portray an individualistic or factional disillusionment
over Naga politics,” nor should it be used to conclude the Naga national
movement with “Accords, Records and Agreements.”
It stated that ceasefire is not the end in itself but only a
roadmap to produce political settlement. Deviations from this universal fact
would cost irreparable loss to Nagas and India, it said.
This was issued in a 2025 greeting message from the NSCN (K)
to the Nagas and the people struggling to restore one’s sovereignty. It
fervently appealed to the Christian world to pray for the glory of ‘Nagaland
for Christ.’
It mentioned that, in the recent past, the NSCN has been
engaging with the Government of India for a bilateral ceasefire as a positive
response to the approaches made by some Naga NGOs and Indian Consulate.
It stated that no group should covertly transform and
manipulate the ongoing ceasefire with India to breed “factionalism, accordism,
groupism and lure foreign-bred Nagas or foreign nationals be part-takers in the
Naga nationalism to adulterate the sacred cause.”
“Naga groups having funded and surrendered to India army
must immediately stop all forms of illegal taxation from the innocent Nagas
under the pretext of a political ceasefire and without. Such groups must live
under complete rehabilitation packages from the Government of India and its
agencies concerned,” a press release issued by NSCN (K) through its MIP said.
NSCN stated that it would always keep its door opened to
welcome and assist any group of people, race or nation who are willing to
struggle and restore one’s identity, freedom and self-determination. It added
that the age-old Naga principle, a constitutional responsibility, would remain
unchanged.
The group has asked the Government of India not to rack up
the issue of Indo-Myanmar border fencing while in ceasefire and talks with the
Nagas. It also urged the ruling government of the ‘so-called’ Nagaland state to
stop financial aid to various groups on the pretext of being the facilitator.
NSCN further stated that it would not betray the Nagas,
India and Myanmar on the issue of Naga sovereignty. It added that its
unshakable integrity, honesty and gratitude would always remain to the People’s
Republic of China, Pakistan and Bangladesh, who were partners in shaping the
foundation of Naga revolution.
