CDPO Chizami launches Poshan Pakhwada 2026 to strengthen nutrition initiatives

DIMAPUR — Reinforcing efforts towards strengthening nutrition initiatives, office of the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) under Social Welfare Department launched the 8th Poshan Pakhwada 2026 on April 9 at the DB Hall in Chizami under Phek district.
An update from CDPO stated that the senior supervisor, Zekote Therie, chaired the programme and highlighted the significance of collaborative efforts in promoting awareness on nutrition, health and well-being within the community.
The programme began with an invocation prayer said by Khrote-U Mekrisuh, AWW Sumi B. It was followed by administration of the Poshan Pledge and a presentation on the key highlights of the campaign by block coordinator, Thsekhro Thopi, who stressed on the importance of focused interventions for improving maternal and child nutrition.

It stated that Sutalu Rume, AWW Zelome B, delivered a presentation on “Garnering community support for stronger Anganwadis,” emphasising the role of community involvement in enhancing the effectiveness of Anganwadi services at the grassroots.
The programme also included a session on “Review and self explanation on Swachhta Pakhwada,” which underlined the importance of sanitation and hygiene as essential components of overall nutritional outcomes.
Meanwhile, the CDPO Nyurhosie Nyuthe called for coordinated efforts among all stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of Poshan Abhiyaan and to combat malnutrition effectively.
The programme concluded with a closing remarks and prayer said by Lhikrope-U Wetsah, AWW, who expressed gratitude to all present for their participation and support.
It further stated that the programme reaffirmed commitment of the department towards improving nutritional awareness and strengthening community-based initiatives.
