DIMAPUR — The Chümoukedima Chamber of Commerce and Trade Association (CCCTA) and Chümoukedima Town Youth Organisation (CTYO) have strongly condemned the rise in anti-social activities that threaten the peace and harmony of the residents.
In a joint statement, the two organisations stated that it is actively tackling issues such as thievery, drug abuse and peddling and public consumption of alcohol, which disrupt daily life and jeopardise public safety. It warned that any individual caught indulging in such unlawful activities would face severe action.
The two organisations have also expressed concerned on increasing nuisance caused by vehicles, particularly bikes retrofitted with loud exhaust systems. It stated that the excessive noise generated by those vehicles disturb public peace and adversely affecting students who are preparing for their examinations.
It has urged upon the authorities to conduct thorough checks on such vehicles and take strict measures.
The organisations called upon all the underground groups to immediately stop collection of illegal taxes within Chümoukedima town as per the February 13, 2024 Chümoukedima public resolution on ‘One government one tax.’
It also urged the business establishment to refrain from paying any form of taxation to any individual or underground groups. Besides, it warned against any artificial price rise, taking the advantage of festive season.
It also directed all the business establishments to clean their shops and surroundings throughout the season.
Meanwhile, CTYO and CCCTA have conveyed Christmas and New Year greetings to all the business establishment and citizens.
