Dimapur, Nov. 10 (EMN): Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC) has resolved to extend support to the initiative of the Public Action Committee (PAC) of Naga Council Dimapur in their efforts to contain the menace of illegal activity following the detection of rampant illegal collection of tax by various organisations in the state. The resolution to this effect was taken during its executive committee meeting held on October 16 and 17 in upholding the Biblical principles of honesty and accountability in the society, CBCC executive secrertary Rev. Khrotso Mero stated on Sunday. The CBCC stated that it is a long-felt desire of the Naga public to root out all kinds of illegal taxations imposed by various agencies in the state. It expressed elation that PAC was formed with the participation of all concerned tribal hohos to contain multiple and rampant taxations. “In a way what the PAC has done is a yeoman service rendered to the public in the event of the failure of the state machinery to tackle the illegal taxations for which the public are suffering economically over the past many years,” the statement said. The council also felt that it should be the bounden duty of every sensible citizen to rise to the occasion and extend every possible moral support to the movement spearheaded by the PAC. It appealed all sections of the society including the Naga political groups to sincerely co-operate and stand in solidarity with the public-based movement and to do away the “self-inflicted economic burden upon our society.” CBCC urged the concerned authority to stop all kinds of unauthorised and illegal taxations along the national highways and also ensure that all syndicate systems and lease systems imposed by certain organisations are removed. CNCC also appeal to the concerned government authority to ensure and reactivate the proper functioning of price regulation committee in all the districts in the state so as to save the public from undue economic burdens. CBCC further appealed to all believers to live out their faith and put into practice the biblical values of honesty and integrity in all areas of life.
