Dimapur, Aug. 3 (EMN): The Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC) has appealed all citizens of Phek district to extend all possible help towards the people who are affected by natural calamities especially the landslides which are creating a war-like situation this summer.
The council in a press release on Friday requested all the churches under CBCC to pray for the weather on Aug. 5 and the affected people and extend help in terms of relief.
The council appeal the church leaders, public leaders of all villages and towns especially those living close to the affected roads are requested to render voluntary services to clear the roads.
The council also appreciated the government agencies of disaster management, police and NGOs for their intervention. Further, it requested them to put more efforts to help people with all possible means. At the same time, one needs to be more cautious of man-made disasters, it added.
“Along with the available machineries we have now like JCBs, excavators, tractors owned by Government companies, private individuals and using them in cutting the roads or for other developmental activities should be carefully planned out first of all and make sure that they would not cause problems. God has gifted us with beautiful hilly landscape and enough rain and water and we must learn how to adjust and preserve those natural blessing to make the life best. We may call it ‘common sense’ which is wisdom. God bless Nagaland!” the press release added.
