He also assured to give equal opportunity to all districts for development, while addressing a felicitation programme held in his honour at CAWD, Conference Hall in Kohima.
Khamo said under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, the NDPP-BJP alliance government came to power with the commitment to serve, bring all round development, and uplift Nagaland to a state of excellence.
He maintained that the government is committed to not compromise in the quality and uphold meritocracy at all levels in the department, and serve the people with sincerity.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]He appreciated the department for tirelessly working for the state and further sought cooperation, understanding and suggestions in the days to come.
The advisor said the CAWD is the face of the government, adding that the department officials -- junior engineers (JE), SDO, and others were the “best brains” in their institutions and equally important people. He exhorted them to exhibit their best in their dealings with the public and works.
Asserting that he is committed to serving the people and not be an obstruction or a liability, Khami sought the support of the CAWD officials to work as a team exuding the confidence and support of the commissioner and other officials.
He observed that the government, while working with the people in different districts, always confronts landowners, uncommitted contractors etc., and politicians are at times compelled to help even those who are not efficient. Yet he stated that there should not be any compromise in quality of work.
“If he (contractor) cannot do, he should not do from the first place, even land owners if they are willing to give, we (Government) should try another option because all these years the government has been suffering,” said Khamo, adding that it will not undermine the rights of the landowners but the government will also have to take its stand.
Khamo told the officials to stand together to support one another and ensure the quality of work is not compromised.
Further, he told the department officials to let their work be a channel of blessing to the people, government and the society.

Earlier, Sungtiba Amer, Executive Engineer, CAWD, who chaired the programme, highlighted the working and staffing patterns of the department and pointed out the shortage of manpower in the department.
Vote of thanks was proposed by Elo Khiam, Assistant Engineer, CAWD Tuensang and invocation was said by Kiheto Awomi, DAO.
