DIMAPUR — The Catholic churches across all dioceses in India observed ‘National day of fasting and prayer’ on March 22.

The decision to hold ‘National day of fasting and prayer’ was made at the recently concluded general body meeting of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) held in Bangalore, stated an update from Bishop House in Kohima.

“This special day of observance is dedicated to lifting up our hearts and minds in prayer for the Church in India and for the country, seeking God’s grace, guidance and blessing especially in the context of the forthcoming general elections.

“Through a collective prayers, we can invoke divine wisdom and discernment upon all those invoked in this democratic process,” the statement read.

It stated that the day was a moment of deep spiritual refection, repentance and renewal for the people of India, opening to God’s will, trusting in His mercy and providence.
