Over 10 players selected to represent state for nationals

Dimapur, Sep. 28: The department of Youth Resources and Sports has selected over 10 badminton players from various districts to represent Nagaland in the upcoming national school games.
The selection was conducted during the recently concluded 11th U-14 state level ‘catch them young’ tournament which was conducted at Hall ‘A’ at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima from Sep. 25 till the 27th.
The event was organised in the discipline of football for girls and badminton for both boys and girls. The categories in badminton included singles, doubles, and a mixed team championship.
While having a telephonic conversation with Eastern Mirror, the department’s deputy director, Dovo Chase, informed that the winners of the badminton matches, both girls and boys, will represent the state for the upcoming national school games. He said that the nationals will be played during winter.
Further, the football players have been selected for induction into the sports academy. Chase said that they will be inducted under a condition, that is, ‘if the players are willing to do so.’
